Frankincense
What you need to know
The ancient Egyptians used the oil found in the wild-crafted resin of Boswellia trees to promote younger, fresher looking skin. Frankincense is also known for its sweet, warm, balsamic aroma with calming properties that can increase spirituality and inner strength.
Frankincense has been sought after since ancient times for its many benefits, including its rejuvenating and beautifying properties.
Better skin
Add about 10 drops of Frankincense essential oil to 1 oz of your favorite moisturizer (along with 5 drops of Lavender). It helps to improve the tone and texture of skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Great for all skin types—but especially beneficial for mature complexions—this luxurious oil helps moisturize and smooth the skin.
Make a DIY glow serum
Just add 3 drops Frankincense and 3 drops Copaiba (another starter kit oil) essential oils to 1 oz carrier oil such as Jojoba oil to make your own DIY facial serum.
Make a homemade facial wash
This is one of my favorite recipes with Frankincense essential oil. Just add Frankincense, Lavender, liquid castile soap and some water to a small foaming pump bottle. I love to add Geranium to this too!
Stress relief
Add 1-2 drops of Frankincense essential oil to 1 tsp of carrier oil and massage neck and temples. It’s great to use at after a busy day.
Boost your mood
If you feel overwhelmed or out of sorts just apply 1-2 drops of Frankincense essential oil to your wrists and neck. You can add lavender to this too, or diffuse them together.
Promote relaxation
Unwind by adding a 5 drops of Frankincense essential oil to a ½ cup of Epsom salts along with 1 tsp almond oil. It helps to promote relaxation after a long day and is great for your skin!
Soothing owies
Mix a couple drops of frankincense essential oil with one tablespoon of coconut oil for an easy balm to make owies feel better quickly. Frankincense is also used aid your body’s response to skin repair.
Immune Support
Rub one drop Frankincense + 1 drop Thieves essential oils (both come in the starter kit) onto the bottom of each foot each day or diffuse in the air to build and maintain a healthy immune system.
Sleep
Diffuse with Lavender for better sleep! You can also mix a few drops of each with coconut oil for a relaxing foot massage that will promote better quality sleep too!
